OpenEMS was proud to be represented at The smarter E Europe 2026 in Munich, where both chairmen of the OpenEMS Association were invited to speak at the pv magazine Focus event during the session „Trends and Differences in Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS)“. The discussion brought together leading experts to explore the future of intelligent energy management.
Representing OpenEMS were Stefan Feilmeier, Deputy CEO of FENECON and Chairman of the OpenEMS Association, together with Klaus Nagl, CEO of Consolinno Energy and Deputy Chairman of the OpenEMS Association. During the panel, they emphasized the growing importance of open, vendor-independent energy management systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
A key message was that future-proof energy management requires open standards, interoperability, and the absence of recurring software licensing costs. OpenEMS enables manufacturers, installers, and system operators to build flexible solutions that can adapt to evolving market requirements, integrate new devices, and support innovative energy services – like EV bidirectional charging – without vendor lock-in.
The invitation to speak at one of the industry’s leading discussion forums highlights the increasing recognition of OpenEMS as a driving force for open-source energy management. As the energy transition continues to accelerate, OpenEMS remains committed to providing an open, transparent, and sustainable platform for intelligent energy management across all sectors.
